When the original Interlakes Wireless Internet system was constructed in 2013, it was engineered for 100 customers. Today, with 10 times that number of rural customers, countless things have been upgraded. However, one thing has not changed, a continuing commitment to provide quality wireless Internet service for all of our customers.
Late last year a number of capacity and tower improvements were completed, and just a week prior to the pandemic, we installed the latest millimeter-wave multi-gigabit digital microwave backhaul. This turned out to be priceless addition when system load from school-at-home, and work-from-home, increased usage 50%, in just a matter of a few days
System improvements at Interlakes Wireless are aways happening, including “small-cell” sites at a number of locations around the lake to add capacity and speed for our customers. Small cell-sites are now in service at Hares, Chautauqua, and The Point. We’ll soon have a new tower in the Lakes Golf area. These new broadcast sites, all linked together with licensed microwave and millimeter-wave frequencies, improve service for existing customers as well as make service available for new customers. When the new tower at Lakes Golf is installed, Lake Madison will then be served from seven Interlakes Wireless tower locations with twenty-five transmitters and antenna sectors. This large number of tower locations, transmitters, and antenna sectors, distributing the load evenly, is the reason we were able to maintain service quality during the pandemic to our customers now working from home, with family doing school from home.
Interlakes Wireless continually steps up to invest in the latest technology to provide your broadband Internet service without funding assistance from State or Federal Government. Wireless technology continues to advance in quality and capability. If anyone tells you that wireless can’t keep up, don’t believe it. It’s simply not true.
State and Federal leaders are now finally beginning to realize that fixed wireless providers like Interlakes Wireless are fully capable of providing quality rural broadband connections to rural homes and families in a matter of weeks, not years. Using the best components, fixed wireless can still be constructed for a fraction of the cost of other technologies.
Interlakes Wireless recently signed an FCC “Provider Pledge” along with over 700 broadband companies nationwide to help customers during the pandemic with broadband services. We’ve been able to assist the Madison Central School District and the Madison Christian School with immediate Internet access for several families that needed broadband services for home-school, where traditional providers simply had no broadband services available.
And, a big Thank You to the Management at East River Electric, who quickly made additional tower space available on their 500’ Junius tower to Interlakes Wireless for additional transmitters that increased capacity to rural customers during the pandemic.
To close, thank you to all of you who’ve become Interlakes Wireless customers, and remember, if you like your Internet service from Interlakes Wireless you can keep your Internet service from Interlakes Wireless. We’re wireless broadband, done right…..We have competitive prices, quality, reliable, and fast Internet services. We have local service, and the best seasonal and year-round lake plans you’ll find anywhere.
Sincerely, Joel Brick
